SUMMARY:Sewing for Success
DESCRIPTION:Sewing for Success began on Friday\, October 2\, 2026 and runs for 10 weeks. This hands-on training initiative introduces the women we serve to foundational sewing and garment construction skills. In partnership with Kevin Smith\, Founder & Lead Educator at Trade & Fashion Academy Las Vegas\, clients receive practical instruction in both the technical and creative aspects of sewing and apparel production. \nThroughout the program\, students are introduced to the mechanics and operation of a sewing machine\, including machine setup\, safety\, maintenance\, and proper handling techniques. The women also learn how to read and use sewing patterns\, gaining an understanding of garment layout\, measurements\, and fabric preparation. \nInstruction focuses on beginning sewing techniques such as: \n\nBasic stitching methods\nHemming techniques\nButtonhole construction\nFabric handling and assembly\nGarment finishing practices\n\nAs part of the hands-on learning experience\, participants work on two wearable garment projects: \n\nA pair of boxer shorts\nA button-down shirt\n\n\n\n\n\nBegins: Friday\, October 2\, 2026\nLength: 10 weeks \nThis listing is for information only. DESCRIPTION:Digital Literacy Class began on Thursday\, October 8\, 2026 and runs for 6 weeks. In partnership with Compudopt and their Digital Skills Builder program\, the women we serve are building essential technology skills\, including computer basics\, email\, Google Workspace\, resume creation\, online job searching and applications\, internet safety\, and digital tools for everyday life\, such as continuing education\, appointment scheduling\, and financial management.
